we're starting an incubator!

This Spring, we're launching a new program to support ambitious technology projects focused on community impact in Toronto.

why a 1RG incubator?

1RG is a collection of interconnected projects that exist to build a world where the relationship between people and technology is empowering and humane. We're inspired by solidarity economies and mutual aid. We yearn for systems that are non-extractive and in the public interest, whether we're building them ourselves or supporting those that do.

1RG Space started in the summer of 2022 by asking the question "how can we help spawn more tech projects that help our communities?” We started by bringing our mutual aid friends and our tech friends together in a series of weekly dinners, which built the core of a community and eventually led to our current space at 2567 Dundas.

We started 1RG Labs in the spring of 2023 to see if we could build a consultancy that operates in this world. We aim to do work that is high quality, rigorous, and aligns with our values. 

Building on this vision, we're launching the 1RG Incubator to directly support and nurture projects that share our commitment to humane, empowering technology and mutual aid principles.

what is the 1RG incubator?

Starting March 31st, we'll be running a 12-week incubator program supporting individuals who are developing technology projects focused on community impact in Toronto. We'll provide space, accountability, community, and a network of mentors. We won't take any equity or charge any fees.
