Announcing: Fabric, 2026

We are very proud to present the Fabric Unconference, 2026.

Technological, automated systems are integrated into all parts of modern life, without distinction between our public, private, civic, internal, and social lives. These systems ask our selves of us in intimate ways by aggregating our plans, ideas, calendars, tasks, hopes, thoughts, conversations, for our benefit, but also to further automate our world using those data we feed them.

As technologists, we can shape those systems to cleave our intimate selves from automation; Our data are not strictly beholden to the hands of private corporations outside of our control, nor to the ruthless extractive mechanism of the profit incentive.

New profit-agnostic experiences are made available via obvious, novel channels such as the new accessibility of programming, but also through tried-and-true organizing principles of collective ownership, community funding, and effective scene-building practices. All of these methods (and those in between) are germane to the essence of Fabric.
