What's happening in October
Someone asked me the other day if they should wear a halloween costume for the next community dinner, and I was forced to begrudgingly confront the fact that Spooky season is upon us.

π₯ Movie Night: Shock Doctrine
Hosted by our friend Muhannad.
βHow do those in power turn crises into opportunities to push through policies that would never be accepted in normal times? The Shock Doctrine, based on Naomi Kleinβs groundbreaking book, exposes the mechanics of βdisaster capitalismβ and how shock, fear, and trauma are weaponized to advance privatization, austerity, and corporate control.
βThis isnβt just historyβitβs a playbook still being used today. From wars and economic collapse to climate disasters and pandemics, we see the same tactics repeating: communities disoriented, rights rolled back, wealth funneled upward.
βWeβll gather to watch, learn, and connect. After the screening, weβll open the space for discussion.
