What's happening in May

I've been monitoring the magnolias of the neighbourhood pretty closely and I can say with confidence that they're all about to turn into white-purply clouds of flowers, which can only mean one thing: we have finally defeated the cold, and we're not going back! At least for a few months.

Toronto tech week

Toronto Tech Week is coming back May 25-29. We're not directly involved with TTW but we're adding a sprinkle of 1RG vibes to their calendar.

​Inspired by Robin Sloan’s essay and Maggie Appleton's follow-up on the subject, Ross and Garry (who you may know from html in the park) are hosting a night of talks and demos about home-cooked software.

📚 Silent reading club

Myles is bringing back a beloved community event. Bring something to read (a book, an e-reader, or that long article you've had open in 47 tabs) and read in good company. No discussion, no pressure, no pop quiz at the end. Just a quiet two hours of shared reading time.

🏛️ Civic Space Sunday

A co-working session with out friends from Civic Tech TO, we're opening our space to folks working on projects addressing civic challenges with technology.

🍽️ Community Dinner # 81

Community Dinners are a mainstay of the 1RG programming. We're food lovers and we think that there's no better way to make friends than sharing a delicious meal.

We’ll be serving a home-cooked vegetarian dinner. All you have to bring is yourself, and any alcoholic beverages you may wish to have with dinner.
